It’s not every day that a contributor unlocks all available badges on Musixmatch, but Rammy has done just that! Since 2016, he's been contributing to Musixmatch, achieving Specialist status and becoming a key figure for our Russian community of music lovers.
Hello Rammy, and thanks for joining us! Could you tell us a bit about where you're from in Russia?
I'm near the Ural mountains, where you can stand in Asia and take one step to be in Europe—then step back to Asia. It’s a unique feeling, and I’m sure others near borders around the world can relate.
That sounds fascinating! Now, let’s talk music—what are your favorite genres, and what’s a song you’re proud to have edited?
I love Synthpop, Synthwave, Retrowave, Alternative, Rock, Folk, and Phonk (which plays in drifting car videos—it originated here and really speaks to me). It's hard to pick just one song I’m proud of, but probably the ones that are perfectly synced with no text issues.
You're definitely a perfectionist! Now, let’s jump into some great questions from our community.
"Hi Rammy! 🥰 As someone who’s earned all the badges on Musixmatch, what advice would you give us curators on improving our transcription and syncing skills?"
(Museli Mulaima)
Start with your favorite songs—they’re the ones you'll naturally want to perfect. Study how specialists do it, then tackle simpler tracks before moving on to more complex ones with tricky grammar and structure.
"What inspires your dedication to Musixmatch? I think others can really learn from you."
(Himari)
I'm driven by perfectionism! I love earning achievements, and I want to help create flawless lyrics so users can sing along without making corrections. I know there are millions of songs out there, but I’ve focused on my favorites and the ones from missions. It’s just a small part, but when each of us contributes in the same way, it all adds up to make a real impact.
"What motivates you to keep contributing and helping others in the community?"
(Gyattingson Fanum Tax the Third)
At first, I just wanted to add lyrics for my favorite artists and fix mistakes. But after becoming a Curator, I felt more responsibility. I started helping others on Slack, sharing tips and checking their work. Mentoring others has a bigger impact than one person perfecting lyrics alone.
"Any words for curators, past or present?"
(Yintong L.)
It’s great to see long-time curators still active on Slack, helping out and contributing lyrics in different languages or genres. Many have become Specialists, and we work together, whether it’s fixing multi-language songs or spotting rule-breakers.
Thank you so much, Rammy, for sharing your journey and insights with us. Your dedication and passion for creating the perfect lyrics and supporting the community are truly inspiring!
