Hello Daniel! And congrats on being Curator of the Month for March 2025. I already know you come from Madrid, and contribute to both the Curators’ and Artists’ communities. What are your favorite musical genres? And what language do you mostly contribute in?
I love reggaeton and urban music in Spanish, but I also really enjoy English pop. I mostly contribute in Spanish, since it’s my native language, but I also help out in English from time to time. I actually think music is a great way to learn new languages. I listen to music in English, reading along with the lyrics to improve my skills.
Tell us more about your beginnings at Musixmatch…
I first joined Musixmatch in 2019 when some friends of mine started releasing music. I wanted to make sure their lyrics were available on all major streaming platforms, so I focused on contributing to their songs.
What’s your favorite thing about Musixmatch?
Without a doubt, the Community! It’s incredible to see people from all over the world working together to perfect the lyrics of their favorite artists.
I also love helping others on Slack. I spend a lot of time in #lyrics-review-assistance, making sure lyrics are accurate and error-free. I also keep an eye on #tech-support channels, where I first became really active. That’s actually how I got the opportunity to become an Artist Community Moderator—thanks to Cari, the Artist Community Manager. Now, I get to help even more, making sure artists can add their lyrics through Musixmatch Pro and get them seen everywhere.
Honestly, it’s such a cool feeling when I see my friends posting a song on social media, and I know that I was the one who transcribed the lyrics. The same thing happens at parties—when a song I worked on starts playing, it’s a proud moment!
Also, thanks to Musixmatch, I’ve met some amazing Community members like Paola, Vivien, and Andreks Tdos. From day one, they were super welcoming and helped me get back up to speed after my break. They’ve taught me so much about Musixmatch, the guidelines, and how to improve my contributions. It’s been great staying in touch with them!
What’s a festival or music event you'd like to highlight?
Definitely the Reggaeton Beach Festival! It’s one of Spain’s biggest reggaeton and urban music events, happening across ten cities. The lineup is amazing—artists like Bryant Myers, De La Rose, Eladio Carrión, Ñengo Flow, Omar Courtz, and many more will be performing. Any Spanish-speaking reggaeton fan would love this festival!
Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your story with us! Your passion and dedication inspire us all!
Thank you for this amazing opportunity! It’s an honor to be named Curator of the Month and to be featured in the Community Blog. I’m really grateful to be part of such an awesome Community!
