Artist related questions, handled like a PRO

This is some text inside of a div block.

Here in the Musixmatch Community we have 3 different Slack Workspaces, each catering to a different user group; two in the ‘Contributor’ Community and one in the Artist Community.

These groups aren’t mutually exclusive, though; many Artists also contribute as Graduates/Curators and vice-versa, which occasionally leads to questions referring to one community asked in the Slack space of the other.

Artists’ Slack Moderator Daniel (who you may also recognise as our Curator of the Month for April) has very helpfully put together a quick guide for the 3 most frequently asked Artist questions. Find it below!

I added my lyrics through Musixmatch Pro weeks ago. Why aren’t they showing up on streaming services?

The most likely explanation for this is a missing account verification. Artists with a Free Plan will have to verify their account before their lyrics are viable for distribution to partner DSPs. Verification can be done via this link and more information is available in this dedicated help center article.

I am trying to claim my artist page through Musixmatch Pro but it says “We couldn’t find your discography”. Why?

It’ll be because your first song has only recently been released and has not yet been imported on Musixmatch. The good news is, the fix is very easy! All you have to do is share the Spotify/Apple Music album link to one of the #catalogue-issues channels (or Daniel directly in the Artist Workspace) and someone will import it for you. Once that’s been done, it should just be a matter of time before you’re about to claim your artist page via PRO.

I am trying to add/edit some lyrics through Musixmatch Pro but they’re showing as ‘locked’. What’s up with that?

This will most likely happen exclusively for Artists verified with a Free Plan, who are trying to work on ‘featuring’ songs, that is, songs that are from two or more separate artists (eg. Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen). These songs require additional protective ‘locks’ due to the fact that more than one artist’s interests are involved within them. Edits on such lyrics are therefore reserved for Artists verified with a Pro Plan. To gain edit access on such songs (assuming you’re verified for at least one of the artists featured in the song), you can upgrade your plan by following the steps outlined in this article.

That’s all we have time (and space) for in this article, but there’s plenty more pro-level support available on the Artists Slack Workspace. Daniel, Moses, and Kany are the moderators there and they’ll be more than happy to answer any other questions you have!
