At Musixmatch, our lyrics are kept accurate by a global community of Curators and Specialists who transcribe, translate, and refine lyrics across hundreds of languages. A big part of how they work is through our mission system: a queue of songs that Curators and Specialists can pick up, work on, and add to our catalogue.
What's new
This month, in response to a request that's been raised by our community for some time, we launched a scheme to make sure language communities of all sizes have equitable opportunities to take part. Curators can now request specific songs to be added to the Jukebox mission queue, and each week we'll push a selection to the mission with a focus on supporting the communities that benefit most.
Longer-standing members of our community may recognise the shape of this. We've run a similar scheme in the past and had to pause it for a while. We’re happy to be bringing it back in a new form, refined by what we learned the first time around.
Why it matters
Musixmatch's catalogue is only as rich as the languages it covers. Listeners around the world expect to find accurate lyrics in their own language, and our Curators and Specialists are the people who make that possible. By inviting them to help surface the songs their communities care about, we're aiming to broaden and deepen coverage in a way that reflects the full diversity of how people listen.
