This month I took a trip back to my home city in the UK and, while there, had the chance to take part in a Sea Shanty sing-a-long evening at a local pub (spot me working hard verifying the lyrics on the right of the photo below).

If you don’t know what a Sea Shanty is, it’s a type of folk song traditionally sang by sailors to help get them through long and tough days of work. The jaunty rhythms and comical lyrics of Sea Shanties not only help boost the morale of the sailors singing them, but also gave me the inspiration for this month’s Just for Fun game.
Below you’ll find three lines of lyrics. To win March’s game, you’ll have to tell us whether each one is a Sham (fake, made up lyric), or a Shanty (genuine lyric used in a Sea Shanty). Sounds easy enough right? Let’s sea! 🌊
