The hills are alive with the sound of music! Julie Andrews was of course speaking about the Austrian hills of Salzburg, but the same was certainly true of the Italian hills this year, as Musixmatch staff took to the Dolomites to inspire and be inspired, push and be pushed, support, and be supported.
The trip kicked off with an afternoon of Dolomeet Talks centered around this year’s guiding suggestion to step out of the comfort zone. Cathy O’Dowd, the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest from both south and north sides, walked us through the challenges of pushing the limits of mountaineering. It was an interactive presentation that saw us tasked with making some of the same decisions Cathy was confronted with during her expedition, albeit from the comfort of our chairs! Max Sirena, skipper and team director of the Luna Rossa, then sat down with Musixmatch Founder and CEO Max Ciociola for a conversation covering the importance of tackling rough waters, both literally and symbolically! Each speaker shared a vital message emphasizing the necessity of expanding comfort zones to achieve success. It’s a message we eagerly received as we gear up to continue pushing the potential of the music experience for our wonderful community.
Day two, hike day, gave us the perfect opportunity to put what we’d heard and learned into motion! The hike saw us climbing hills, crossing forests, and jumping streams; it was a challenge, and that’s what made it so rewarding. As we continued to push ourselves, we earned more and more stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, which in turn gave us the energy to push ourselves yet further.
Cleansed and refreshed after the hike, we took our boots off and let our hair down for a DJ set, led by some of our talented colleagues, and a song or two around the campfire. Day 3 left us just enough time to join together for one last lunch and reminisce about the trip gone by. And what a trip it was! We’ve now returned to Bologna HQ energized and ready to continue making #wordsmatter!
